The daruma is one of Japan's most cherished engimono — a beloved good-luck charm passed through generations. Round and perfectly weighted, the doll has no limbs to lean on; only the will to rise.
Push it. Watch it stand again. That single motion — the rebound — is the daruma's promise to whoever keeps it: fortune that endures, and the strength to keep rising, no matter what.
不倒翁的原型是菩提达摩，一位印度高僧。传说他面壁九年，手脚因长久不动而萎缩。他是禅宗的开山祖师，也是所有不肯放弃之人的守护者。

How to wake your daruma 如何唤醒你的达摩 達磨の目入れの作法
Make a wish. Paint the left eye. 许下心愿，画上左眼 願いを込めて、左目を描く
Hold your wish clearly in mind. With ink, fill in the daruma's left eye (your right, as you face it). The daruma is now watching over your goal. 将心愿清晰地装在心里。用墨笔点上达摩的左眼（即面对你的右侧）。从此，达摩将守护你的目标。 叶えたい願いを心にはっきりと思い浮かべる。墨で達磨の左目（向かって右）を描き入れる。これで達磨があなたの願いを見守ります。
When the wish is granted, paint the second eye. 心愿成真之时，画上另一只眼 願いが叶ったとき、もう片方の目を描く
The day your wish comes true, complete the daruma by painting the second eye. The work is done. The promise is kept. 心愿实现的那一天，为达摩点上另一只眼。完成它。诺言已经兑现。 願いが叶った日、もう一方の目を描き入れて達磨を完成させる。役目は果たされ、約束は守られた。
